Summer Volunteering Day

The White Peak Planning team volunteered with the Peak District National Park Conservation Volunteers (PPCV) for the seventh time.

Over the years, our team has contributed to a wide range of conservation projects, including creating drainage routes, restoring a cairn, building and repairing dry stone walls, clearing vegetation and drainage obstructions, constructing a new footpath.

This year, we focused on improving accessibility and creating a welcoming outdoor learning space at Brunt’s Barn accessible woodland. We carefully re-laid an outdoor classroom floor, to provide a solid level base, ensuring safe access for wheelchair users. We also excavated an area to make way for a new time-out space, which will be constructed from living willow and provide a quite space for children and adults.

It was another rewarding day of teamwork, and helping to support the PPCV's fantastic work. We are proud to play a small part in helping to conserve and improve the Peak District National Park for everyone to enjoy.

The weather did not disappoint and we enjoyed post activity drinks in a lovely restaurant in Grindleford.
