Volunteering Day
Most of the White Peak Planning team recently volunteered with the Peak District Peak Park Conservation Volunteers (PPCV) for the sixth time! The PPCV have been working for over 40 years to help protect the Peak District National Park, with the invaluable support of volunteers.
In previous years, we’ve created drainage routes in Bleaklow, restored a cairn at the top of Jacob’s Ladder, built a dry stone wall around a trig point on Black Hill, and cleared vegetation and drainage outlets in Glossop. Last year, we constructed a new footpath at Bottoms Reservoir.
This year, we tackled a substantial section of damaged dry stone walling near Derwent Reservoir. The weather was gloriously hot, and since dry stone walling is thirsty work, we naturally ended the day in a pub in the Hope Valley.
