Seasonal Charity Day

The White Peak Planning team took part in a heartwarming volunteer effort with The Bread and Butter Thing (TBBT), a non-profit organisation dedicated to reducing food waste and supporting vulnerable communities.

TBBT bridges the gap between surplus food suppliers and those in need, providing affordable food packages to individuals and families struggling to make ends meet. By sourcing high-quality surplus stock from supermarkets, manufacturers, and farms, they create accessible weekly shopping packages that significantly alleviate financial stress for those facing food insecurity.

The White Peak Planning team spent the day helping to pack food parcels, carefully preparing fresh, chilled, and cupboard staples that will soon find their way into the hands of those who need them most. Together, we helped 600 families access healthy, nutritious, and affordable food – equivalent to around 18,000 meals – while also preventing 10 tonnes of food from ending up in landfill.

The experience offered an opportunity to give back to the community while working alongside TBBT’s dedicated staff and other volunteers at their busiest times of the year. The day was fun, rewarding, and enlightening, and we hope to continue volunteering with TBBT.
